Consumer confidence in France stabilized in April

According to the report from INSEE, in April, the consumer confidence indicator remained at 92 points, while economists had expected a decline to 91 points. However, the index remains 7 points below its long-term average (100 points).

INSEE said that the index, which evaluates the opinion of households about their future financial situation, remained at -11 points. The index reflecting the opinion of households regarding their past financial situation rose by 1 point to -20 points. The balance of opinion regarding the opportunity to make major purchases increased by 3 points to -23 points. The proportion of households believing it is a good idea to save has decreased again - the corresponding balance has lost 4 points, but remains well above its long-term average. Meanwhile, the index assessing the opinion of households regarding their current ability to save rose by 1 point, to 19 points. The balance of opinion related to their future ability to save dropped by 3 points to 12 points.

The data also showed that the households' opinion on future standard of living in France has decreased again: the associated balance has lost 3 points. The one related to past standard of living has gained 2 points. Both balances remain well below their long-term average.
