In a post on Truth Social on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated calls for the Federal Reserve to reduce its interest rates, citing falling prices for groceries and energy, and lower mortgage rates.
"Gasoline just broke $1.98 a Gallon, lowest in years, groceries (and eggs!) down, energy down, mortgage rates down, employment strong, and much more good news, as Billions of Dollars pour in from Tariffs," the U.S. leader declared. "Consumers have been waiting for years to see pricing come down. No inflation, the Fed should lower its rate!!!" he added.
Trump also stated that the U.S. economy is "only in a transition stage" after he started placing reciprocal tariffs on trading partners last month.
