Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President Tom Barkin said on Friday that he continues to believe the U.S. economy is still in a good place, with consumer spending and business investment remaining very solid.
However, the official noted that not all firms can raise prices to offset the impact of tariffs. Barkin added that feedback from retailers suggests consumers are nearly tapped out, making it more difficult than expected for businesses to pass on higher costs.
